Scarecrow Invasion: September 5th through October 26th

Parade: 6 pm, October 3rd, 2025, on Sykes Street

Festival: 6:30-9:00 pm October 3rd, 2025 at the Harbour Pavilion

Every fall, Meaford comes alive with hundreds of scarecrows hanging from lamp posts, posing in windows, and gathering outside Market Square and Meaford Hall. Residents and businesses join in the fun, creating displays that celebrate the town’s agricultural heritage.

Key Events:

  • Family Festival: Friday, October 3 from 6:30–9 PM at the Harbour Pavilion
  • Business Display Competition: September 20–25 (judging downtown displays)
  • Apple Pie Contest: Friday, October 3 (pie drop-off 11 AM–3 PM at Christ Church Anglican, 34 Boucher St.)
  • Scarecrow Parade: Friday, October 3 at 6 PM along Sykes Street

The Scarecrow Invasion is a quirky, family-friendly tradition that brings the whole community together. From colourful displays to the excitement of parade night, there’s something for everyone. Come see why this annual event is one of Grey County’s favourite fall celebrations!

Meaford residents and businesses get in on the fun by making hundreds of scarecrows and decorating the downtown area to reflect the town’s agricultural heritage. Come see for yourself!

Preparation

Cornstalk Schedule – Tuesday, September 2nd

  • 7:00 AM – Cutting down the cornstalks
  • 9:00 AM – Installing cornstalks around town (Cornstalks will be dropped off downtown as trailers are loaded). Installation could start a little earlier if we get all the volunteers we need to make cutting and loading a quick process.
